What is diagnostic imaging?

Diagnostic imaging refers to various noninvasive tests that allow the team at Fulshear Family Medicine to see the inside of your body. These tests may be used to confirm or rule out a suspected health issue.

What are common diagnostic imaging tests?

Pulmonary function test (PFT)

PFT is a diagnostic test that allows the team at Fulshear Family Medicine to assess how well your lungs are working. The team may request a PFT to assist with diagnosing a pulmonary condition such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. You may also need a PFT to assess respiratory health if you have allergies.

Stress test

The stress test assesses how well your heart works during physical exertion. The team may recommend you undergo a stress test to diagnose a heart condition, such as arrhythmias or coronary artery disease. The team may also recommend a stress test to assess how well treatments are working for your heart condition.

Echocardiogram

The echocardiogram is a noninvasive test that uses ultrasound technology to generate images of your heart as it pumps blood through the chambers. The team may suggest an echocardiogram to diagnose a heart condition or monitor your valve disease.

Dopplers

Dopplers are noninvasive tests that use ultrasound technology to measure blood flow through your blood vessels. The team may recommend this diagnostic imaging test to look for blood clots, aneurysms, or blocked arteries.

In addition to on-site diagnostic imaging, Fulshear Family Medicine also has an on-site laboratory to test for urinary tract infections or strep throat, as well as to measure blood sugar levels.
